Whether you need wi-fi on your laptop in the library, or a connection for your gaming system or streaming device in the residence hall, Northeastern’s networks have you covered. Most devices are compatible with one of the university’s networks, including Apple TV, XBOX, PS3/4, Roku, most smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV stick.

Connect to the Internet

Secure Wireless

NUwave is the secure wireless network for laptops, phones, and other personal devices in the residence halls, classrooms, and across campus. Use your myNortheastern username and password to connect to NUwave.

Alternative Wireless

NURes-device, an open wi-fi network that requires registration, is available in the residence halls to support certain devices that are not compatible with NUwave. Amazon Echo and Fire devices, smart TVs, and gaming consoles must connect to NURes-device.

Wired Network

ResNet is the high-bandwidth, high- speed wired network available in the residence halls intended for computers, game consoles, and smart TVs.

Which Devices Can I Use?

Device Network Compatibility

The networks at Northeastern University are designed to be as compatible as possible with the wide variety of devices. Due to the security requirements of managing an enterprise network, certain network applications that require open and unrestricted access to network ports, such as gaming, may not work properly. Additionally, students must register all devices to be used on ResNet and NUres-device annually.
